This website provides information about and access to the National Library of Portugal (NLP) datasets. These are available in open access and comprise metadata from the main NLP information systems such as the NLP Catalogue, the National Bibliographic Database – PORBASE, the Portuguese National Bibliography (since 1931) and the National Digital Library.

Data can be obtained in different metadata schema (e.g., UNIMARC, Dublin Core, Mods) and encoding formats (ISO2709, MARCXchange, RDF, RDF Turtle), through search and retrieve services (URN http service, for unique identifiers, and Z39.50) or as dataset downloads by OAI-PMH.

Some of these services to access data from the NLP bibliographic systems have been available freely since 2003. The release of this website reinforces the visibility and amplifies the diversity of such services in accordance with the open data policies called for by the Directive 2013/37/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 June 2013, amending Directive 2003/98/EC of 17 November, on the re-use of public sector information (PSI).

All data are released under the CC0 License (Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Universal Public Domain Dedication), thus available for reuse for any purpose, commercial and non-commercial. All data services are free of charge and without authentication.

The NLP open data services are also available from Dados.gov, European Data Portal and DataHub.
